Putting the “O” in Olympic (and the “limp” in Olympic too)

Someone forgot to put the Child of Prague out last Saturday night because when Sunday rolled around we were greeted by weather more like October than July.

The Navigator is the only Olympic distance training event we run so the inclement weather added an extra dimension to it to say the least.

Launch of Tralee Triathlon Junior Club

On Sunday 19 July 2015, Tralee Triathlon Club took the first step towards setting up its first Junior club.

Their first duathlon! Tralee Triathlon Juniors are naturals (and very competitive!!)

Anna Grealish who works with Triathlon Ireland as their Munster Development Officer, came to Fenit to facilitate the first Junior training session. There was also an information briefing for parents interested in joining the Junior Club committee.

Anna, probably formally better known by her maiden name, Crooks, is one of the top female triathletes in the country. She is no stranger to race podiums, and topped the National Series rankings in 2013 (second in 2014).

There was plenty of new faces at the second in the series of mini triathlons taking place in Fenit this summer. They are the ideal way to practise the three sports and most importantly they are a fun way to pass a summer’s evening.

24 club members set up on Transition on Tuesday evening – some again attempting their first ever triathlon event and others hoping that this practice session will get them faster and fitter this summer.

Key to the whole thing is the volunteers who ensured that the club can host these events and Bridget Moore, who only last week completed her first ever triathlon, stepped out to the plate with a band of volunteers to ensure the event went off smoothly.
