This session is open to riders of all abilities… come along and do an hour and you’ll find that both your ascending and descending abilities will improve.

  • When: commencing on Monday, April 16th at 7pm
  • Where: Scrahan (next to The Oyster Tavern on the R558 – Tralee-Fenit road)
  • We suggest that you park near O’Donnell’s, Mounthawk and bike to The Oyster Tavern

Coached Open-Water Swimming

Club swim coach John Edwards will commence coached open-water swim sessions on Monday, May 14th at Locke’s Beach, Fenit.  Water safety will be provided (kayak cover) in the water.  Participants are asked to be in the water at start times and please have your wet-suit on and ready to go.  Don’t forget your goggles and swim cap and flip flops are handy.
Numbers are limited!

There are twelve (12) sessions in the block.  Cost is EUR 60 per person + booking fee.
Please note that the final swim will take place on Tuesday, July 31st.

For new-to-tri members, these can be important sessions as sea swimming (in a tri wet suit) is significantly different to pool swimming.

There are three (3) sessions per evening:

  • 6.30pm – 7pm novice class
    • This is suitable for people who CAN SWIM but are completely new to sea swimming or have never swam out of their depth in the sea. The classes will start in shallow water and aim to get you to the first buoy and beyond if you want! It would suit those aiming for the tri-a-tri (c.250m)
    • To participate, please register here
  • 7.15pm – 8pm intermediate class
    • This class is for people who can swim comfortably in the pool, have some experience in the open water and can or are happy to try swimming to the first buoy and beyond. Classes aim to build up to swimming 750m, from shore to last buoy
    • To participate, please register here
  • 8pm – 8.45pm advanced class
    • This class is for people who can swim lengths comfortably in the pool, have swam in the open water before and can comfortably swim from buoy to buoy. Classes aim to build up speed and endurance over 750m/1400m, from shore to last buoy and back
    • To participate, please register here

Junior Club Volunteers / Garda Vetting

Tralee Junior Triathlon Club plays a very important role within our triathlon community.
We very much rely on parents / guardians / adults to volunteer at our events.
If fact, without volunteers we cannot hold events!

We would deeply appreciate it if you could help out at Junior club events in 2018.
If you are assisting at just one event then you will not require garda vetting – you can be assigned to assist someone that is already garda vetted.
If you wish to assist at multiple events then you must get garda vetted.
The process is very simple:

  • Go to the Triathlon Ireland web site and select Resources – Safeguarding – Garda Vetting and Access NI.
  • Please read carefully then print out and fill in the E VET validation form.
  • This form can be validated by the clubs Children’s Officer (Niamh Murphy) The Gardaí or a solicitor.

More information is available here.
