Exciting Times Ahead!
Impressive turnout for the launch of our training plan for the coming year for our club’s intermediate and advanced triathletes. It just shows how the club is going from strength to strength. There were quiet a few new faces in the audience and we hope to be welcoming a new influx of members soon.
Our Chairperson Annie has put in a huge effort and amount of time to pull all of this together and she deserves credit for doing such a great job. As we have come to expect from her the presentation and planning was professional and well organised.
The training plans are tailored for two specific groups, those that intend doing the Dublin Ironman 70.3 or another Half Ironman distance event and those whose target races are Sprint or Olympic distance events.
Annie outlined the different training phases we will be undertaking throughout the year and then went into detail on the Winter training schedule for the intermediate/advanced groups.
We met our coaches for the year and each of them gave us an outline of what to expect from them.
Triathlon – Stephen Teeling Lynch of GoTri
Strength and Conditioning – Joe O’Connor
Swim – John Edwards
Run – Maria O’Keeffe McCarthy
All of our coaches will be working according to specifications laid out by our training co-ordinator Oliver Harkin of Primed Coaching. Oliver will provide a comprehensive platform which will further develop the training capabilites of the club.
As a pilot study this year we will be using Training Peaks software to provide a complete solution for tracking, analysing and planning each individuals training.
All of the details for training will be sent out by email to club members. Those who are not currently club members and attended on the night and gave their contact details will also receive an email.
There’s a busy year ahead of us
