Puck Warriors Duathlon 2014
Warriors, Come Out To Play
Yipee! First Duathlon of the season done and dusted. Well done to everyone today on what turned out to be a very enjoyable event. The weather held off and we were gifted with as good conditions as could be expected for this time of year. No rain, what more could you ask for ?
The race was a 5 km run followed by a 15km cycle and then a repeat of the 5 km run. It was mainly level apart from a nice little hill 500 meters into the run which was much more difficult the second time around!
There was a field of just over 100 participants of various abilities. By my reckoning there was 15 Tralee Triathlon Club members or thereabouts. Not a bad show of strength.
A Day of Firsts
It was a day of firsts for our club. Our own Milosz came in ahead of everyone else to bag first place in the mens event. Well done Milosz! Padraig, Stephen and Pio weren’t too far behind. Of course the first thing that Milosz did once he finished was jump on a Wattbike !
Congratulations to Suzanne O’Sullivan who finished 3rd in the womens event!
For many of our recent members who are new to triathlon this was their first multi discipline event. Congratulations to everyone who has now made the step up ! Well done Helen, Kay, Siobhan & Meave. The first of many races to come hopefully. 🙂
It was James Johnston’s first time officiating at a Triathlon Ireland event. Thanks for representing the club.
And for me it was two firsts. It was my first duathlon and my first disqualification as well, I think. It seems they’re not too keen on you cycling off without your helmet. Proper order too. I won’t be doing that in a hurry again.
There was plenty of refreshments laid on after the race. Soup and sandwiches, tea, coffee, fruit, biscuits and chocolate …. nom nom nom!
For those of you who want to check their times the race results have already been posted.
A few more photos from the day.
